At its core, this work is inspired by the facial expressions of people suffering from hypothermia and the intense fear that lingers in their eyes. Your gaze is first drawn to the frightening white and blue, but it soon settles on the intermittent, spreading black areas. Perhaps the true fear isn't the cold itself, but the irreversible numbness and emptiness it brings. Good observations.
What is this deep chill, the inner tremors, the altered rhythm of the heart, the blurring in my eyes, if not fear? As I drown in the mourning of my freezing room, what is the purple hue of my fingers, the redness of my nose, the steam from my breath, if not the fear of cold? What is this cloud of death that clings to me, this glacial fear that seeps into my soul, if not fear itself?
